On March 8, 2019, International Women’s Day provided SB Partners with an opportunity to celebrate women’s achievements as well as reaffirming our commitment to tenaciously challenge bias. We celebrated both internally and externally. Yes, there was cake 😊
The theme for this year is #BalanceforBetter. Team members shared their experiences and thoughts on #BalanceforBetter via social media, as well as gathering colleagues’ ideas about ways SB Partners can continue to nurture #Balancefor Better in the workplace. Much more than a “women’s issue,” it is core to what SB Partners stands for as a business and as business owners.
Our goal was to recognize the importance of International Women’s Day by doing something that might make a difference; locally, and perhaps one day, globally, empowering people and changing attitudes.
We were delighted to collaborate with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Halton and Hamilton, and the Me to We Take Action Ontario Camp by paying for one week of camp this summer for a child working with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Halton. Me to We was Co-founded in 2009 by Craig and Marc Kielburger. The Take Action Camp is not your typical summer camp. It helps participants discover their passion, build confidence and develop leadership skills.
SB Partners hopes that this gift will provide a child with an unforgettable experience inspiring and equipping them to take action on issues they are passionate about. We hope to share the story of the camper’s experience this fall.
