SB Partners 2010 Scholarship Recipient

Meghan Bilewitz Awarded SB Partners Scholarship

Burlington Accounting Firm Supports Student Achievement

SB Partners LLP, a long-established Burlington accounting firm, recently recognized Meghan Bilewitz’s accomplishments by awarding her the SB Partners’ Scholarship.

Ten years ago Meghan hoped that stocking shelves and tending to the cash register at Shoppers Drug Mart would eventually lead to the success that she is experiencing today. Perhaps it was the training of new cashiers back then that gave her a taste of sharing her knowledge with others? It’s something she does frequently today, mentoring younger students at McMaster University’s DeGroote School of Business.

A member of the Dean’s Honour List three years running, Meghan’s extraordinary academic record, focusing on accounting, is equalled only by her growing list of awards and scholarships. She will complete her Honours Bachelor of Commerce studies in April of this year.

The $3,000 SB Scholarship was presented to the 25 year-old Hamilton resident on Friday, January 8th, 2010 at the SB Partners’ offices. “This is just fantastic,” said Meghan, “It’s so wonderful to have a firm such as SB Partners providing the scholarship”. She added, “There is nothing better than having firms like SB interacting with students. It’s very much appreciated.”

When she isn’t studying, working or mentoring, Meghan is a self-proclaimed animal lover. Having had 8 cats, 7 dogs and a raccoon in her lifetime, it’s no surprise that Meghan participates in the McMaster People for Animal Welfare Society (PAWS).

The SB Partners Scholarship was established in 2007 through the generosity of SB Partners LLP, a Burlington accounting firm known for its community spirit, support and involvement. Recipients are honoured for their successful studies in the DeGroote School of Business Commerce Program.

McMaster University, one of four Canadian universities listed among the Top 100 universities of the world, is committed to discovery and learning in teaching research and scholarship. It has a student population of 23,000 and more than 140,000 alum in 128 countries.

Congratulations Meghan!
