We received a call that Joanna Roselli from Assumption High School would be this year’s recipient of the $3,000 SB Partners Education Scholarship. I was fortunate to attend the graduation ceremony on behalf of the Partners to present the award.
Joanna visited the podium several times during the graduation ceremony in recognition of her many accomplishments.
She called me shortly afterward thanking SB Partners for the scholarship and expressing how grateful she was. There was something special about Joanna, and I wanted to meet with her to learn more about her aspirations.
Joanna shone with vibrancy and humbleness when we met. She is focused, very focused with a maturity beyond her years. After the summer, she explained she is heading to Ryerson University for a new program called Creative Industries, an interdisciplinary B.A. program, where students receive a combination B.A. with a business specialization. It is the only program of its kind in Canada and a perfect fit for Joanna.
Her talent with the fine arts combined with her academic ability is impressive. She received a business scholarship for her role as CEO for her Business Leadership Class, in addition to being part of Student Council, the Model U.N. program and as a Prefect. She also received an Art Scholarship from Burlington Art in Action.
A former competitive swimmer, Joanna works as Lifeguard for the City of Burlington and teaches swimming skills to children in her spare time.
The world is waiting for Joanna. Congratulations on being this year’s SB Education Scholarship recipient!
The SB Partners Education Scholarship was established with the Burlington Foundation in 2007 through the generosity of SB Partners LLP, an accounting firm known for its community spirit, support, and involvement. Each year, a Burlington high school identifies a graduate in recognition of their successful studies. The high schools alternate between the Halton District School Board and the Halton Catholic District School Board.
