SB Partners Raises $17,829 for United Way Halton and Hamilton
SB Partners is a committed community partner. We have strong ties with the United Way Halton and Hamilton. Each year we participate in a workplace fundraising campaign in support of the United Way.
The United Way of Halton and Hamilton works tirelessly to build strong, healthy, and safe communities. They work to tackle systemic barriers and create opportunities for all. In our current economic climate inflation, and the rising costs of living are having a severe impact. Particularly on marginalized groups, and those experiencing deeply embedded inequalities. They face poverty, homelessness, social isolation, and lack of resources.
The Facts
The United Way reports that social services in Canada are facing:
- 53% Increase in need for services
- 29% Decrease in capacity to meet services
- 50%+ Funded programs with waitlists
The effects of inflation are being felt throughout households and businesses alike. We must work together to protect those most vulnerable in our communities.
In the Office Supporting the Community
The United Way offers a workplace campaign toolkit for businesses to engage their employees in helping support United Way initiatives. We at SB Partners launched a workplace campaign on October 24th, working together to raise funds and have some fun to show some “local love”. We hosted employee let games and activities including a Halloween costume contest, bingo trivia, Survivor-themed games, cornhole tournaments, and a pizza party raffle.
The United Way Halton and Hamilton is close to SB Partners as President Trevor Hood has been active with the Campaign Cabinet for many years. Our goal this year was to raise $13,000 for the United Way Halton and Hamilton, and we are pleased to announce that we surpassed that with a final tally of $17,829.
We encourage everyone, both individuals, and businesses, to support the United Way and “show some local love”. With 205 311 residents across the Halton and Hamilton region relying on 106 United Way-supported programs, we can bring change and make a difference in people’s lives and have a positive impact on our community.
