Sleepless In Our Cities

In a year where more than 143,562 individuals and families will rely on United Way Programs, our commitment to supporting our community remains firm.

On February 23rd, 2024, as part of the Sleepless in our Cities fundraiser, 3 of our colleagues slept in their cars to raise funds for those who are being pushed to their limits. For one night they endured the cold and discomfort that has become the norm for so many individuals and families in our community.

We have been participating in this event since 2021 and have been humbled by the generosity of those who have supported us.

Thank you to:

For participating in this event, and raising over $10,000

About United Way Halton & Hamilton

United Way Halton & Hamilton (UWHH) is committed to leading measurable, impactful change by identifying the most challenging issues in our community and bringing together people and resources to address those issues. We connect volunteers with local needs, and offer training and operational support to local charities. Along with our network of partners and experts, UWHH conducts research and works with key stakeholders to generate support for the not-for-profit sector. Each dollar raised is invested right back into the community.

Outside of government, United Way is the largest funder of social service programs and initiatives in Canada.

Far too many in our community are faced with making the difficult choice of paying for heat or providing food to their family.  Some find themselves couch surfing as they do not have a place of their own to call home, while others fall into the shadow of shame and stigma, preventing them from coming forward for help. When people live in poverty, choices like these can seem unbearable.
