I have been an active participant of the Burlington Economic Development Corporation (BEDC) for the past 5 years as a Board member, Chair and now Past Chair.
Being part of the BEDC has allowed me to appreciate the amount of effort that goes into developing initiatives that support a wealth of locally generated economic activity.
The BEDC has developed some excellent initiatives supporting growth and innovation. innovate Burlington recruits local graduates to work on projects under the guidance of experienced mentors. The goal of the program is to create an innovative and entrepreneurial business community by connecting talented graduates with Burlington's business community. The graduates work on projects analyzing market and competition, business planning and communications and social media.
Companies benefit from the fresh perspective of young graduates tempered by the guidance of innovate Burlington’s seasoned business mentors. Graduates gain the experience, exposure and networks needed to launch their career.
Innovate Burlington is a partnership led by Burlington Economic Development Corporation (BEDC), along with the City of Burlington, Burlington Chamber of Commerce, The Centre for Skills Development & Training and McMaster University.
